Our menu specialises in game and seafood sourced locally where possible and prepared simply with an every changing menu and specials board.

Our menu remains fresh, changing every 4 months, in-keeping with the seasons, reflecting traditionally available produce from the sea and land at that time.

Additionally, many of our customers eat from our specials board, which changes daily depending on what fruits the sea provides, offering yet more variety to our recognised favourites. Vegetarians are also catered for on our specials board and starters can also be increased in size to provide alternative vegetarian main courses.

Our seafood is delivered daily from Gourdon and Aberdeen fish markets with our meat prepared and delivered daily McWilliams of Aberdeen. clootie4.jpg

Hot Smoked Salmon Skink
Our very own speciality made from hot smoked salmon, potato, cream & milk, served in a bread bowl.
 
Home-Made Chicken Liver & Haggis Pate 
served with toast and tomato chutney.
 
Halloumi & Med Veg Stack(GF)
Layered Mediterranean vegetables & char grilled Halloumi
finished with a herb oil.

Pheasant Breast(GF)
Pan fried pheasant breast served with poached pears & a spiced berry syrup.

Garlic Bread (for 2 to share)
Oven roasted garlic bulb, served with baked ciabatta,
sprinkled with sea salt & garlic oil.

Tuna Carpaccio(GF)
Marinated tuna loin rolled with garden herbs & cracked black pepper,
lightly seared and served with a cherry tomato and rocket salad.

Trout Mousse
Hot smoked trout mousse served with oatcakes and a  
tomato and apricot chutney.

Mushroom Concase
Button mushrooms stuffed with concase tomatoes,
topped with a herb crust and mozzarella cheese.

A large, freshly beer battered Ocean Venture fillet served
with chips & home-made tartare sauce.
 
Scallop & Seabass Duo
Pan seared scallops and seabass on soba noodles in a Thai broth.

Sea Trout(GF)
With braised fennel & balsamic roasted cherry tomatoes.

Shellfish Trio
Parten, Crayfish & shrimp bound with a white wine and dill cream
on a bed of linguine.

Smoked Haddock
Smoked Haddock fillet grilled with garlic and lemon butter
with black pudding and a poached egg.
 
MEAT DISHES
 
Braised Lamb Shank(GF)
Pot roasted long and slow in Trappist ale, on garlic mash
with roasted root veg crisps.
        
Pork Tender Loin(GF)
Pork tender loin stuffed with spinach, apricots and pine nuts.
Wrapped in Serrano ham and oven roasted with baby roast potatoes
and a cider and tarragon jus.

Venison & Wood Pigeon Duo(GF)
With game terrine and a kreik reduction.

Beef Carbonade(GF)
A rich Flemish stew made with tender chunks of beef, braised long & slow
in dark ale with a bowl of Belgian frites.

Chicken Breast(GF)
Oven roasted chicken breast with sun-blush tomato risotto
and a goat’s cheese cream sauce.

Calves Liver & Crispy Lardons (GF)
Calves liver with crispy lardons creamed potato and a Madeira jus.

We make changes to our menu every 3 - 4 months. However, due to customer demand, we have chosen to leave some of the more popular choices on the menu. Last revision, November 2009.

If you have any special dietary requirements, or allergies, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you. To the best of our knowledge, we do not use genetically modified ingredients. Some of the dishes may contain nuts or nut traces. We have indicated gluten free meals with (GF).
